A man totally ignored in his birthplace of South Norwood is dissolute dandy, wit and raconteur Julian Maclaren Ross. Ross maybe established a dandy tradition going down to the present day through Bunny Austin’s tennis shorts to the unique steampunk of our very own Richard Lamy
Born on July 7th 1912 in rented lodgings at 18 Whitworth Road, South Norwood, London. Baptised James McLaren Ross, the middle name given in honour of Mrs McLaren, his parents’ landlady-cum-midwife
