A tarn, as defined by the OED is a lake and there are 61 tarns in the Lake District…. a mere, by definition (as a noun) is a lake or pond and there are 4 major ones in Cumbria Buttermere, Grasmere, Thirlmere and Windermere. In my eyes, that makes 65 plus the various waters (eg Coniston). Ermmmmm, how many in Croydon again? lol
