What an absolutely fantastic article by a journalist who has taken their time and not simply given deference to Cumbria. To all those who have sent abuse, death threats and just pure bile, have a read of this article. The irony is that Cumbria is an area that boasts of great inspiration for poets and writers.
Thank you John Walsh for you intelligent journalism.
Thank you, South Norwood Tourist Board for brightening up my week with this thoroughly worthwhile work promoting one of the most beautiful and vibrant neighbourhoods in London. I am looking forward to placing my order for the fabulous South Norwood art work. I moved to South Norwood a year ago from Wapping in central London. My family home is in Somerset (also a lake district with literary claims) and so I wanted to be closer to nature and in an area with a great arts scene. I moved here because on my first visit I found it to be a thoroughly attractive and beautiful neighbourhood which is full of friendly people. I am most bemused by the claims that the area is ‘not attractive’ or ‘run down’, but welcome the publicity. My friends thought I was mad to move here from Wapping, but can now see that this is no backwater. I usually play tennis in Dulwich, but now I have read in the Independent about courts closer to home, I’ll stick around here. Keep up the good work, SNTB.
