More Zeppelinalia
Our researchers have uncovered only one mention of Zeppelins and South Norwood in the entire cannon of Science Fiction. Here it is from ‘Hartmann the Anarchist’ by Edward Douglas Fawcett published in 1892. He is describing the airship Attila’s passage to attack London: ‘We were now going at a high speed and in a short time were skimming over Norwood Junction’. Strange to have pic…ked out Norwood Junction rather than any other more obvious landmark? This book is extremely rare however SNTB has purchased 10 copies of a recent paperback edition to make available at cost price of £5 with free delivery in South Norwood. We are going to ask the landlord of THE SHIP to change its name to THE AIRSHIP as a first step in making the High Street ‘Destination Dirigible UK’ with an annual ZEPPELINFEST
