Hot off the press, David Hambling has let us know about his own second publication.
Hi,
I’ve just published the second novella in a series set in Norwood in the 1920’s, sci fi/horror adventures featuring ex-boxer turned debt collector Harry Stubbs.
In the first, The Elder Ice, Harry is on the trail of a mysterious legacy left by Ernest Shackleton (Antarctic explorer and local hero) — which turns out to be more alien and more dangerous than he could have imagined.
In the second, Broken Meats, Harry is coerced into assisting a Chinese visitor who has a particular interest in the late Roslyn D’Onston, a writer, black magician and suspect in the Jack the Ripper killings. What is the real purpose of the visit — and just how dead is D’Onston…?
(D’Onston was a real-life character who worked with the famous theosophist Madame Blavatsky during her brief stay in Norwood, and books have been written about him as a Ripper candidate).

Both make full use of the local area and history.
Best,
David Hambling
Perhaps Hammer would be interested in the screen adaptation of these?
