South Norwood folk have been saddened at the lack of xmas lights illuminating our wonderful community this year – especially as papers are full of switch ons elsewhere. Is it due to austerity and all the cuts or simply old Ebenezer Scrooge casting his ‘Bah Humbug’ far and wide.
So yet again, SNTB have stepped in to save the day.
SNTB announces that local canine hero PICKLES will turn on a completely IMAGINARY SET OF LIGHTS at the SENSIBLE GARDEN on Wednesday December 16th at 7pm
These will be the first time in history a set of imaginary xmas lights have been turned on by a dog. We expect big crowds to flock in from far and wide.
The great switch on will be preceded by a countdown and gasps of oooohs and aahs from the expected crowds as the imaginary lights are not seen.
Pickles will be joined by members of the cast of OLIVER currently performing at nearby Stanley Halls.
Can we volunteer our dog’s services also – she is a chocolate Labrador so a timely colour and also very much likes the look of Pickles. Go Mia!
This is the official response to my question why S.Norwood will not receive any Christmas lights this year
Surely Townends or CPFC could have funded the lights on the High Street this year
Xmas lights – In Croydon Xmas lights are funded by local businesses and this has been difficult to get going in South Norwood. However to help kick start this in South Norwood we are working with a local resident who has very keen to get something in place for next year. From this year, we have a small amount of money at our disposal as councillors and are considering using this to purchase lights for next year to help get things moving, we missed the boat this year as the process starts much earlier than we realised.
