Now that two Sherlock Holmes Societies have supported our bid (The Red Circle in Washington DC & The Sherlock Holmes Society of London )I have copied below an email that we have sent to the Council and was hoping you could all back our bid by emailing our local councillors to show there is support in naming the Lake in honour of Conan Doyle.
The people you need to email your backing are:
Mike Fisher –Â mike.fisher@croydon.gov.uk;
Tony Newman –Â tony.newman@croydon.gov.uk
Paul Scott –Â paul.scott@croydon.gov.uk
Karen Jewitt –Â karen.jewitt@croydon.gov.uk
Thank you for your support
Good Evening All
South Norwood’s most famous resident’s house, Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle, has been sold without any exploration of converting it into a Tourist Attraction, not allowing all the Holmes enthusiasts to see ‘The Final Problem’ was written. As it is unknown if the owners of this  iconic house will keep the Blue Plaque on display, South Norwood Tourist Board propose that the unnamed lake in the Country Park be officially named ‘Lake Conan’ in memory of Sir Conan Doyle residency in the area.
We believe this is a decision that can be undertaken by the council, and feel it would highlight the country park, encouraging people to visit the newly named Lake. It would also help distinguish between the Lake in the Country Park and South Norwood Lake.
I hope you feel our proposal is something worthwhile pursuing.
Kind Regards
