Experts from the Imperial War Museum authenticate the skin of the vanished Zeppelin 6172Y found during the clean up of the Sensible Seat site in South Norwood today
A triumphant keeper of the zeppelin collection at Cardington – the last airship hangars in the UK – salutes the amazing find. The site will become a future Destination Dirigible according to the South Norwood Tourist Board who will be cordoning off the site tonight to prevent looting.
Amazing news! South Norwood gets even more fantastic. Found out at last what the Sensible Seat site is (but still don’t know who The Man himself was). I’m sorry I couldn’t have helped with the clearing up anyway, but well done, everyone who did. I enjoy all the SNTB emails – they bring a smile every time.
Small problem folks, no Zeppelin has EVER used those identification numbers. They used L123, LZ 12 and LZ123 etc. Not only that but no other airship ever built has used them either.
Not to mention the canvass and dope would have disintegrated years.
So my question is this…whose the jerk that made the connection that this was an airship, let alone a Zeppelin?
Blue? Looks like an old tarpaulin, why do you think it’s from a 100 year old Zeppelin?
